Police held counselling session for students who indulged in violence
Parents requested to advice their children to shun the path of violence

Srinagar, April 24, (Scoop News)- A group of students of Boys Degree College Khanabal Anantnag instead of joining their classes disturbed the peace and forced other students out of the classrooms. Thereafter they began pelting stones and bricks towards the Dak Banglow, District Police Office and main road from the college campus. They smashed a lot of civilian vehicles plying on main road, windowpanes of Dak Banglow and District Police Office buildings.
When the Police responded to the situation, the students attacked police party with bricks and stones and also pelted towards official residential buildings of senior administration officers injuring many policemen. After hectic efforts situation was brought under control and the students indulging in violence were detained.
During questioning it was ascertained that most of them are college students and are misguided. Keeping in view their studies and their career, Anantnag Police called their parents, College Principal along with faculty and held a counselling session in the lawns of DPO Anantnag. The counselling session was attended by the students who had indulged in stone pelting among other students along with their parents. Media persons and other respectable citizens of the Anantnag town were also present. The counselling session was chaired by Deputy Inspector General of Police South Kashmir Range (DIG SKR) Shri Amit Kumar accompanied by SSP Anantnag Shri Altaf Ahmad, CO 1st R R, Principal Government Degree College Boy's Khanabal, Superintendent of Police Hqrs. Shri Tahir Ashraf, ADDC Anantnag and other Civil/Police Officers of District Anantnag.
On the occasion DIG South Kashmir, SSP Anantnag, Principal GDC and other senior officers interacted with students and deliberated in detail the role of students and about their career. During this counselling session they were made aware of their responsibilities, character building, studies and future. They were briefed about the means to channelize their talent in the best possible way so that they can become productive for their family as well as for the society.
Subsequently all the students were released and handed over to their parents. Parents were separately requested to look into the situation at family level and advice their children not to indulge in violence and concentrate on studies....
