Dismal performance of BJP ministers disenchants people, seething anger across region
Shah seeks time to finalize list of probable aspirants

Jammu, April 25, (Scoop News)-Expressing complete aversion to the idea of inducting fresh faces among Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) ministers in ruling coalition, the natives of Jammu are feeling unruffled and unconcerned even as the meeting with the party president, Amit Shah, had remained inconclusive.

“Show me what they have done for the people of Jammu during last three years,” asked Vikas Mahajan (19), a student of final year of graduation. “Except for filling their own coffers, they have done nothing for the poor people or students. They have become arrogant and are least bothered about a common man,” he lamented.

The general refrain of the people in Jammu is that they feel betrayed by the party they brought to power in 2014. Men, women and youth are seething with anger against BJP ministers and other party leaders for acquiescing before Kashmir centric leadership in running the state administration despite having over 26 lawmakers in the lower house of the state legislature.

“They don’t have a say, so we too feel enfeebled,” says Vijay Sharma (42), a private employee. He said ‘so called reshuffle’ won’t have any impact on the masses in Jammu. “What we have got during last three years of the coalition rule and what we can expect from this government in next three years,” Sharma quipped.

He said reshuffle is a drama and an attempt to dilute Rassana incident.

“The youth faced absolute discrimination in the recruitment to various government departments during past three years of the coalition rule,” said Seema Gupta (28), an unemployed. She said Jammu always got a second class treatment while major chunk of these jobs went to Kashmir.

Even the women folk are no longer kind to BJP. They alleged the prices had spiraled and have been maintaining an upward trend during past three years particularly among middle class families or households with limited income.

“The prices of household items have shot up considerably during past three years and it is difficult to manage kitchen affairs these days with a fixed monthly amount,” said Anjali Arora (48), a domestic lady.

Due to Modi wave during last elections in 2014, BJP managed to bag two parliamentary seats and 25 out of 37 assembly constituencies from Jammu region. “In coming elections, people of Jammu will definitely punish them (BJP) because of their non performance,” said Ashwani Kumar (57), a shopkeeper.

Even people belonging to border areas of Jammu are disillusioned with BJP. They alleged their family members and cattle are getting killed on regular basis due to unprovoked firing from across the border. Hundreds of families from these areas had migrated to safer places but there has no response from the authorities to provide basic amenities to the border migrants. “The government lacks will to end this menace on the border once for all,” said Surrinder Sharma, a resident of Pallanwala.

Meanwhile, the BJP core group from Jammu and Kashmir has returned without finalizing the names of the party members likely to be inducted in the council of ministers in the ruling coalition. The meeting remained inconclusive as top leadership was busy in other important assignments in the wake of Karnataka assembly polls.

They met party president Amit Shah and had a brief discussion over reshuffle of party ministers in the ruling alliance. Expressing dismay over the below par performance of his party ministers, Shah told the visiting leaders that he was in favour of complete revamp of his party ministers in the coalition but due to his prior commitment in Karnataka elections, he requires some more time.

Shah also referred to feedback of his party ministers in the ruling alliance. He was also handed over the list of all party legislators for taking a final call. The core group had also met party general secretary (organization) Ram Lal and Ram Madhav to discuss fresh faces of the party in the coalition. However, the party president has been entrusted to take the final call on the reshuffle.

All BJP ministers except deputy chief minister, Nirmal Singh, had submitted their resignations to party president Sat Sharma on April 13. Reports suggest that party high command had taken serious note of Singh’s non adherence of party directive. Subject to the call from the party president, Amit Shah, the core group will once again visit New Delhi after a couple of days to hold a meeting with him.

According to well informed sources, a list of probable lawmakers to be inducted in the council of ministers included Kavinder Gupta (Speaker), Rajiv Jasrotia, Sukhnandan Choudhary, Ravinder Raina, Rsajeev Sharma, Sat Sharma, Shakti Parihar and Dr. Divinder Manwal....
