| Kichloo seeks inquiry into death of lady patient due to medical negligence at DH Kishtwar | | Kishtwar, May 21, (Scoop News)-Senior National Conference leader and former minister, Mr. Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo on Monday expressed deep anguish over death of a lady patient due to medical negligence at District Hospital Kishtwar.
In a statement, the NC MLC sought inquiry and appropriate action against Dr Gurdev Singh, Assistant Surgeon in District Hospital, Kishtwar for the negligence.
Describing the incident as inhuman, Mr Kichloo said the carelessness led to the death of the lady, namely Shakeela Begum, wife of Mohammed Iqbal, resident of Sangrambhatta, Kishtwar. The deceased lady, suffering from stone problem, was operated by Dr Singh in District Hospital, Kishtwar. After the surgery, a piece of cotton is reported to have remained inside the abdomen due to which her condition deteriorated. After her condition became critical she was referred to Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu for further treatment but in unknown circumstances she was again referred to Srinagar for required treatment.
The statement added that due to the avoidable travelling and infection having spread in her body, the lady was declared dead by the doctors at Srinagar. “Now the people of Sangrambhatta are demanding to lodge an FIR against the said doctor for his negligence”, the statement said.
Demanding immediate suspension of the said doctor, Mr Kichloo sought setting of an enquiry committee to fix the responsibility. He assured the people that justice will definitely be delivered to the family of the deceased and asked the government for release of adequate compensation.... |
