Youth National Conference takes out cycle march against fuel prices, border killings
protests held across Jammu region
Jammu, May 24, (Scoop News)-Youth National Conference Provincial President; Jammu Mr Ajaz Jan on Thursday led a cycle march in the heart of the capital city to protest against continuing spurt in petrol and diesel prices. This was part of the protests held by the YNC across the Jammu region.

Joined by senior party leaders including Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana, the march took off from Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan and concluded at the official residence of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti at Wazarat Road.

“The fuel price rise is unprecedented that has not only impacted the rates of essentials but also affected the middle and poor class hugely”, Mr Jan said while addressing the workers at the party headquarters, adding that the people were feeling a sense of deprivation. He asked the BJP leadership to spell out whether this is their version of ‘Ache Din’, which they promised to the people of the country.

Mr Jan said the BJP has been milking the people and depriving them of the benefits that should have accrued to them due to decrease in international crude oil prices a few years back. “Instead, they kept increasing the prices”, he said and demanded the fuel prices to be brought under the ambit of the GST so that benefit percolates down to the common people.

The Provincial YNC President also took head on the PDP-BJP coalition in the State, asking what had prevented the insensitive dispensation to lower the Value Added Tax (VAT) to give respite to the people. He said the State Government has failed on all fronts, the worse example of which is visible on ground in the forward areas, right from Line of Control in Poonch to International Border in Kathua. He said the border residents were falling victims to shelling but the coalition government never felt the urgency of raising shelter sheds and bunkers to save the lives of innocent civilians. He said the BJP in particular trumpeted from roof-tops that adequate number of safe shelter spaces would be created and five marla plots allotted to those vulnerable to frequent shelling.

“What has happened to the promises made to border residents”, Mr Jan asked and said the exploitive politics of the BJP and PDP stands exposed before the people. Time will come when the people will deliver their verdict against the failed dispensation, he added.

Mr Ajaz Jan sought immediate review in the process of fuel pricing with objective of benefitting the consumers. He said the people have lost patience and they can’t withstand anymore anti people polices of the governments in New Delhi and in Srinagar.

Carrying placards, the enthusiastic Youth National Conference workers raised slogans against the BJP government and demanded respite in fuel prices. On the entire route, the people echoed their anger and responded to the slogans of the workers.

The Provincial Sr Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, General Secretary, District and Block Presidents, Vice Presidents, Secretaries and other office bearers of the Youth National Conference besides senior National Conference leaders participated in the protests against the rise in fuel prices.

The protests were also held at Poonch, Kathua, Kishtwar, Ramban, Batote, Rajouri, Doda, Thathri and Udhampur.
