e-PDS for bringing accountability, transparency: Com Secy
One day workshop organized by FCS&CA


Srinagar, June 21, (Scoop News)- For effective implementation of electronic Public Distribution System (e-PDS), a one-day state level workshop was today organized by Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FC &CA), at Directorate of Information and Public Relations.
The workshop was organized under the superintendence of Commissioner Secretary, FCS&CA Dr Abdul Rashid the workshop was attended by Director, FCS&CA, Kashmir, Nisar Ahmad, Director, FCS&CA, Jammu, joint director FCS&CA, assistant directors of all districts and other officials of the department.
During the workshop, an action plan for implementation of electronic Public Distribution System (e-PDS) especially Fair Price Shops (FPS) automation, strategy and timeline for its completion and issues confronting in the field was discussed.
A technical training session was held on working of PoS device and the introduction of hardware and software was also discussed. At the end of the workshop, answer/question session was held in which officers raised queries and share their field experiences regarding the scheme with the experts.
The training was provided by the experts of Link Well Telly System Pvt. Ltd. Hyderabad. A brief presentation on role and responsibility of the company in the implementation of e-PDS was given by director, Link Well Telly System Pvt. Ltd.
At the outset, Commissioner Secretary said that the Government has initiated the process of e-PDS to ensure digitization of Public Distribution System to make it more transparent, accountable and minimize pilferage of food grains. He asked the concerned officers to adopt a proactive approach for implementation of e-PDS in an efficient manner to put an end to the ration pilferage in the district.
He stressed that the Government was committed to safeguarding the interests of consumers by bringing 100 percent transparency in the Public Distribution System (PDS) and asked the concerned officers to strictly submit the report regarding the scheme to the concerned directors.
Earlier, Director, FCS&CA, Kashmir gave a detailed overview of the physical achievements of the e-PDS like 100% digitization of ration cards, computerization of supply chain management, installation of Pos devices in FPS and online grievance redressal mechanism.
He further informed that 3610 PoS devices are installed out of which 2580 are active, 361538 transactions done and 8910970.15 kg of rice distributed under the scheme in Kashmir division as on 21st June 2018.
