| PDP leaders extend unconditional support to party supremo | | party undergoing worst patch in it’s over two decade long chequered political existence | 
Jammu, July 9, (Scoop News)-Cautioning the Central Government against trying to chip away the members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti, said that it would undermine the trust of Kashmiris in Indian democracy.
“Any intervention from New Delhi will be taken seriously and any such attempt will have perilous impact on Indian democracy,” she warned and said she could have formed the government with the Congress Party two years back. “We didn’t do so and instead entered into an alliance with the Bartiya Janta Party (BJP) in the larger interest of the people”, she recounted.
Reacting to her warning, the BJP sources accused her of shifting blame on others while trying to hide her own failures. They said “there is a total revolt against the party leadership and their style of working within PDP.”
“Her autocratic style and clumsy handling of the party affairs had caused crisis within PDP and put the party in self destruction mode,” they said.
The sources alleged several disillusioned party leaders and sitting lawmakers had openly rebelled against the party leadership and said that discontentment within the party members was brewing since long time.

Meanwhile, in an attempt to quell the brewing dissent within party, PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti, reached out her party lawmakers and other leaders and e discussed various issues concerning the PDP.
According to well informed sources, nearly a dozen of members including former ministers called on the party president on Sunday at her residence after her return from the Union Capital on Saturday evening.
Those who met the party chief included Abdul Rehman Veeri, Aijaz Ahmed Mir, Noor Mohammed Bhat, Yavar Dilawar Mir, MY Bhat, Mohammed Khalil Bandh, Zahoor Ahmed Mir and extended unconditional support and even offered unconditional resignation to the party president to put on hold any alleged poaching of members, the sources said.
They said some of the party leaders were out of station (Srinagar), while others have sought time for the meeting with the party president on Monday.
Pertinent to mention here, the first lawmaker to speak against the party chief was the PDP lawmaker, Abid Ansari, from Zadibal constituency. He was followed by his nephew, Imran Ansari, a former minister. ... |
