PMDP Projects: DC Srinagar reviews progress of works under different sectors
Srinagar, July 09, (Scoop News)- Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Monday took an extensive review of progress of works sanctioned under the Prime Minister’s Development Programme (PMDP) in the district.
The meeting was informed that under the health sector work on at least seven projects is currently underway in the district including the 70-crore 200-bedded Maternity & Pediatric Hospital at Bemina, 10-crore Primary Health Centre at Batamaloo, 9-crore Drug Warehouse at Bemina, 12-crore SwastBawan at Bemina, 15.40 crore 50-bedded PHC at Chanapora, 13-crore Mini Maternity Centre at Zakura and 19-crore additional block at JLNM Rainawari.
It was informed that most of these projects are structure-ready and are targeted for completion by mid to ending 2019. PHC Chanapora is almost complete whereas MMC Zakura is due for completion by the end of this year.
The DC also took stock of status of ongoing projects under the education sector including constructions of library and hostel blocks at SP College, academic, administration, hostel and toilet blocks at Bemina Degree College, academic block at Amar Singh College and academic, library and laboratory blocks at College of Education MA Road. It was informed that cumulative work worth Rs 23 crore has been completed out of the total cumulative cost of 37 crore.
It was informed that all these projects are due to be completed by March 2019.
The DC sought detailed information about commencement and completion dates of all these projects and asked the concerned departments including the R&B and JKPCC to ensure all of these are completed by their targeted completion dates.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of other ongoing works sanctioned under PMDP in the district including those of the Power Development and the Forest departments.
SE PDD while giving details about the status of work done under the 583-crore Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) in the district informed the meeting that material to the tune of about 30 percent has been procured involving an expenditure of over 150 crores. He suggested that the contract should be given to the Procurement wing of the department in order for the prestigious project to pick up the pace as required.
The meeting also discussed the status of 82-crore Integrated Power Development and 299-crore PMDP-Urban (Distribution) schemes besides the Saubhagya Scheme under which 1033 households and 515 households below poverty line in rural and urban areas of the district will be given free power connections.
