CEC, LAHDC reviews the ongoing and new schemes

Leh(Ladakh), July 14, (Scoop News)- CEC, LAHDC Dorjey Motup after resuming his charge convened a meeting of all the engineers of PWD headed by SE PWD, Leh S.K Pandita to review the ongoing and new schemes under engineering sector in the current financial year.
The meeting was attended by Executive Councilor for Agriculture Tsering Wangdus, Executive Councilor for Health Gyal Wangyal, CPO, Leh Padma Lundup, Councilor Temisgam Tsering Morup, Councilor Hunder Kunzang Lotos, Councilor Lamayuru Morup Dorjey and
CEC enquired about the progress of ongoing and new projects in current financial year 2018-19 from April to July sub-division wise. He reviewed in detail about the work to be done in the remaining working season. He sought from the engineers about the difficulties and challenges faced in completion of major projects and discussed on possible solutions.
PWD cited e-tendring and poor internet service in the district as the major reason in delay of majority of projects. They informed that local contractors fail to bid through e-tendring and for small projects the response is almost nil giving excuse of poor internet connection. The engineering wing put a strong demand to install V-set facility in all the sub-divisions of the district.
CEC directed SE PWD to take up small project departmentally under his authority. He said that the ECs had raised the issue of e-tendring with Governor N.N. Vohra during his recent visit to Leh and expressed hope to have some feasible ways to addresss the issue soon.
EC Health Gyal Wangyal appraised in the meeting about the negligble progress of projects within the ambit of PWD in Nubra sub-division owing to acute shortage of engineers and clerical staff in all the departments. CEC directed SE PWD to look into the matter treating it urgent and find ways to fill required vacant posts through internal adjustments at the earliest.





EC Agriculture Tsering Wangdus raised the point for completion of fencing and plantation in the premise of Council building. Taking note of it, CEC directed Ex-en R&B and Ex-en Construction to complete the work at the earliest possible.
Discussing the projects related to construction work of major bridges in the district the engineers informed that there good progress on all the bridges in the district and said that Sha-tse Daksna bridge connecting Skyu-Markha will be completed within couple of months for traffic flow.
CEC directed Irrigation and Flood Control division to complete all minor projects on all the irrigation canals of the district by next season. He also instructed CPO Leh to expedite the release of funds for all the ongoing and pending works vigorously.
CEC gave a free hand to all the Ex-en of engineering division to take strict action against any contractor who exhibit irrational behaviour and do not complete work within the stipulated time. At the same time he also advised engineers support and build a cordial rapport with the contractors to ensure credibility and accountability in taking up small projects.
