| Police detains two school teachers for eulogizing terrorism | | video on social media prompts police to take suo moto action against perpetrators |
Baramulla, July 17, (Scoop News)-As many as 13 teachers of a private school were detained over ten days ago by local police for allegedly eulogizing terrorism and motivating the students to join the ranks of terrorists.
Police, however, let off 11 teachers after completion of its preliminary investigation and following intervention by some village elders.
A video uploaded on social media showed teenagers being prompted to act as terrorists in the forests of Zandafaran where they had gone on a day long picnic a fortnight ago. Some children were seen singing songs glorifying death while other students were seen carrying out an attack on enemy forces.
Most of the students belonged to poor families. The parents have expressed shock and dismay over these video clippings and sought an immediate intervention by the district administration into the matter.
Both school management and the local education officials, however, feigned ignorance. The school has over 200 students on its rolls.
Police took a suo moto action and also seized some incriminating literature at the behest of remaining two detained teachers. They said the videos had potential to brainwash young children and lure them into terrorism in the future.... |
