| LeT militant killed in Handwara encounter | |
Srinagar, July 19, (Scoop News)- one LeT militant was killed in a encounter at Batapora village of of Magam area in Handwara district on Thursday, Police said.
Police spokesman in a statement said that pursuing credible leads regarding the presence of terrorist in Batapora village of Magam area in District Handwara, a joint patrol of the security forces today in the afternoon hours launched searches in the area.
During the searches, a hiding terrorist fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated and in the ensuing encounter the terrorist was successfully eliminated by the joint patrol.No collateral damage was witnessed during the encounter, he said.
According to Police that on the basis of the incriminating materials recovered, the killed terrorist is learnt to be a foreigner (Pakistani national) and was affiliated to the proscribed terror outfit LeT.
Some arms & ammunition were also recovered from the encounter site.
Police has registered a case and investigation has been initiated in the instant matter.
