authorities to provide security

Jammu, July 23, (Scoop News)-A group of displaced Kashmiri Pandits will be undertaking on Wednesday a five day ‘specific pilgrimage’ by visiting the sthals (sites) of 17th century mystic saint and a Sufi poetess Mata Roopa Bhavani.

The pilgrimage is being conducted by the Shri Alakh Sahiba Trust (SAST)-Jammu for which the organizers have arranged two passenger coaches.

According to the SAST sources, the pilgrims will be visiting Cheshma Shahi in the foot hills of Zabarwan Range where she (Roopa Bhavani), had meditated for over a dozen of years. Next, they will be travelling to Manigam and Waskura in Ganderbal and Bandipora districts respectively, they added.

Surprisingly, post migration the displaced community members have built replicas of their shrines and saints outside the valley where they hold celebrations at regular intervals.

The state authorities have also assured of providing a security blanket to the pilgrims during their stay and travel in Kashmir valley.

Following mass exodus of Pandit community from Kashmir in early 1990, hundreds of their temples and shrines have dilapidated or crumbled down for want of regular maintenance.
