PK pays rich tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, termed him as a great friend of Kashmiri Pandit community

Jammu, August 20 (Scoop News)-Panun Kashmir while paying rich tributes to the Bharat Ratna Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee termed him as a great friend of the Kashmiri Pandit community and the people of J&K State.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir in a press conference said that the Kashmiri Pandits as the indigenous people of Kashmir are the worst hit by the Article 35A which was introduced in 1954 through a Promulgation of the President of India. Since it has been put to the legal scrutiny in the Supreme Court of India, any protest against its hearing is tantamount to pressurizing the Apex Court on the issue.
He said that that Kashmir alone does not represent Jammu and Kashmir state. The people of Ladakh and Jammu provinces along with the Kashmiri Pandit community have been demanding its abrogation for quite a long time now. Time has come when things in this regard need to be settled once and for all.

“The Kashmiri Pandit community is unanimously supporting the cause of the Kashmir Temples' & Shrines Bill and is overwhelmingly looking up to the government and the Governor's rule in this regard. This is high time that the government took a firm stand regarding this all important concern keeping in view the civilizational aspirations of the Hindus of Kashmir. Temples and shrines in Kashmir belong to the whole Hindu society and the current conditions of the religious and cultural places in Kashmir are a major concern of the society worldwide. The passage of the Bill will indeed prove to be the biggest confidence building measure in favour of the displaced Hindu community of Kashmir. There is a need to review the context and also the draft of the Bill since the old format has lapsed with the passage of time. We demand that the Bill be given the shape of an Ordinance after a due process of debate and discussion on the subject with the stakeholders and issued as such,” Ashwani Kumar said .
Virender Raina, Chairman, Political Affairs Committee,Upinder Kaul, General Secretary and Kamal Bagati, General Secretary (Org) were also present in the Press Conference.

Virender Raina, Chairman, Political Affaris Committee while talking to reporters said that Panun Kashmir expresses serious concern over the threats carried out by the elected West Bengal Chief Minister in context of the Bangladeshi illegal immigrants' detection and deportation. These threats have potential to create social discord and communal disharmony. The politically volatile issues need to be responded with seriousness. The issue of Rahangyas is also an issue that needs attention of the nation. Though the statement of the Union Home Minister, Raj Nath Singh that the Rohangya illegal immigrants in the country after detection would be deported to their country is a welcome step yet the continuous stay of Rohangyas in various states and particularly in a sensitive state like Jammu & Kashmir is developing into a very serious threat to the security and law & order situation in the state and Jammu province in particular. We cannot absolve the role of those politicians who were responsible for their camping in the Jammu city and its suburbs over the last fifteen years neither the society can shut its eyes towards their illegal stay in J&K State. These illegal immigrants who also include some souls from Bangladesh as well have been "allowed to be engaged in regular official and semi-official economic and social activity in the Jammu province.".

He said that their comforts in their stay are being taken care of by the political class and some NGOs and their detection and deportation is contested and also given a communal colour. Panun Kashmir takes strong objection to the silence of a section of the political class on the issue. We demand that necessary action to detect and deport these illegal immigrants be taken up by the Union Home Ministry on an urgent priority
