Unmatched alertness in place on LoC in Kashmir Himalayas
latest warfare equipment improves fighting abilities of troops guarding borders at present

Leh(Ladakh), August 20, (Scoop News)-Soon after the Kargil war in 1999, the Army reshaped the trans Himalayan heights and the steps with special priority have enhanced its confidence level that it can counter any challenge along the Line of Control and the Line of Actual Control.
Ladakh region has borders with Pakistan along Line of Control (LoC). The strenuous terrain and chilling temperatures plummet to minus 40 C during winter invariably snowball the problems.
Northern Command chief Lt Gen Ranbir Singh’s recent interactions with visiting scribes during Kargil Vijay Divas have become a basis for the rules that the troops have to observe in Jammu and Kashmir, the state under punch by terrorists intruding from across the LoC besides those who get recruited from within.
The war fighting capabilities of the soldiers have enhanced due to infrastructural developments and overall modernization after they (soldiers) have been provided night vision devices, latest warfare equipment and other gadget that have improved night fighting abilities.
The situation on the LoC particularly in Kashmir is connected to the situation in the hinterland. Pakistan is continuing with its infiltration bids and has sought to push a number of infiltrators from across the LoC particularly the northern frontier for past few weeks.
For them, Gen Singh has a stern message that any terrorist coming from across the LoC will not live for another day. The level of alertness in the forces is at its pinnacle and at present no combatant can catch unawares the army guarding the borders.
Within the valley the situation is better than previous years, but army has maintained its vigil. The army is committed to neutralizing ‘those who undertake terrorist activities’.
GOC in C of Northern Command told soldiers to uphold human rights of the people and said, ’the operations have to be carried out in a professional manner and avoid any collateral damage during encounters.’
Gen Singh also directed his troops to ensure minimum civilian casualties particularly who are not part terrorist groups and the message has been passed on to every soldier in the state.
