DGP, GOC 15 Corps visit Handwara, hold joint security review


Srinagar, September 24 (Scoop News)- Director General of Police, J&K Dilbag Singh IPS, GOC 15 Corps Lt. Gen. A.K Bhatt accompanied by senior officers of Army, Police, CRPF visited Handwara, today.

The DGP and GOC 15 Corps held a joint security review with the officers of Army, BSF, CRPF and Police in the District Police Lines, Handwara. The joint meeting was attended by GOC Kilo Force Maj. Gen. D.P. Pandey, IGP (Ops) CRPF Shri Zulfikar Hassan, IPS, IGP Kashmir Zone Shri S.P Pani, IPS, SP Handwara Shri Ashish Mishra, IPS and Commandants of Army and CRPF.

Addressing the officers, the DGP J&K Shri Dilbag Singh emphasised that the existing cooperation and synergy between different forces is to be further strengthened to combat the terrorism and also to ensure smooth conduct of the local governance elections. He expressed his happiness that the synergy exhibited by the security forces at the ground level is the best model of success for any force. Irrespective of the colour of uniforms, all forces are doing their best in service of the nation, he added.

The DGP Shri Dilbag Singh said that improvement in the situation has been made possible by the sacrifices and good work of all the forces. He said that the anti-infiltration operations on borders by the Army have proved very successful as a number of terrorists who were infiltrating into the State were killed. He hailed the role of the CRPF in assisting the J&K Police in maintenance of law and order.

During the joint security review meeting the GOC Kilo Force Maj. Gen. D.P Pandey, Commander 7 Sector (RR) Brig. D.R. Rai, local Commanding Officers of Army and CRPF also gave their assessment about the situation.

DGP, J&K later on held a darbar of all Police ranks of the District. In his address the DGP appreciated the efforts made by J&K Police in maintenance of law and order in the state. Acknowledging the sacrifices made by police in the line of duty, he assured the Jawans that Government is taking all possible measures for the welfare of the Jawans.

DGP thanked the government for enhancement of ex-gratia relief for the personnel of J&K Police and SPOs in the recent time. He urged jawans to work for the betterment of society by lawfully discharging their duties. He assured that government is working on providing some more welfare measures for police personnel including SPOs in near future. The welfare schemes pertaining to housing and education are being addressed on priority. He listened to the grievances of the personnel and assured that these will be redressed shortly.

Pertinently DGP has started his career as a Probationer from Handwara serving as ASP in the year 1988, and recounting his days from ASP to DGP, he stated that “JK police has come a long way and with the strength of our men, it will climb new heights in the service of the nation”.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Superintendent of Police Handwara, Shri Ashish Mishra briefed the DGP regarding the security scenario and highlighted the functioning of his district.
