| Two militants killed in Handwara encounter | |
Srinagar, October 11 (Scoop News)- Two militants were killed in an encounter with the security forces at Shartgund Bala area in Handwara,police said.
Police spokesman said that Police and Security Forces in the wee hours today launched a cordon and search operation at Shartgund Bala area of Qalamabad in Handwara.
During the searches, the hiding terrorists fired on the search party which was retaliated leading to an encounter. Consequently the civilians in the nearby areas were evacuated. Further following the SOP attempts to make the terrorists to surrender failed.
In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were eliminated.In the operation no collateral damage has taken place.
Identities of both are being ascertained.
Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.
Police has registered a case in this regard and the investigation has been initiated in the instant manner.
Spokesman further said that the two killed terrorists have been identified as Manan Bashir Wani son of Bashir Ahmed Wani resident of Tiki Pora, Sogam, Kupwara and Ashiq Hussain Zargar son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Zargar resident of Tulwari Langate.
