CEC urges teachers,villagers to work on increasing the enrollment of students in schools



Leh, October 13 (Scoop News)-: CEC, LAHDC Dorjey Motup who is also the Councilor, Kyungyam constituency attended the annual day function of High School Chumathang as the guest of honour. The function was presided over by Dy CEO, Abdul Qayum as the chief guest on the occasion.

Beside school staff and students, villagers, VEC and members of Ama Tsogapa Chumathang, the teaching staff and students of Nomadic Residential School Puga and surrounding educational institutions also attended the annual day of High School Chumathang.

The main highlights of the event was the innovative presentation of around 40 interesting stalls by the students demonstrating different models based on subjects like science, maths, bhoti, urdu, geography, arts and artifacts, decoration pieces, toys ,Wheel of Life etc. Besides, a scintillating entertainment program including fashion show, kungfu by girl students, boxing, lyceum dance and cultural performances by school students and villagers of Chumathang.

Addressing the gathering, Dy CEO Abdul Qayum lauded the endeavour the school teaching staff headed by School Headmaster, Padma Tsering in providing the students with motivating and innovative platform to showcase their intellect and skills through their model demonstration which are the basic needs of present society. He said that they have set an inspiring example for other schools to follow.

Speaking on the occasion Dorjey Motup said the over the past few years there has been an improving trend in education standard in government schools of Nyoma and Durbuk areas. He urged the teachers as well as the villagers to work on increasing the enrolment of students in these schools that would provide opportunity to get better education in their own cultural environment.

Headmaster, Padma Tsering said that their objective is to explore student’s potential and talent in academic subjects by means of innovative teaching methods and ensuring creative engagement of students to make studies interesting and the main reason behind demonstration of stalls with 100% participation of students is to improve self confidence, communication skills and to overcome shyness behavior in govt. school students. He expressed gratitude to the team of his teachers and staff for their cooperation, coordination and commitment in exposing the students to broader vision and innovation as part of their education.

Later, guests distributed awards and trophies among meritorious students and tallest, heaviest and oldest persons of Chumathang village were also awarded.
