| ITII dislodges Qazi Yasir as Mirwaiz of south Kashmir over alleged vulgar videos and pictures surfaced on social media | |
Anantnag / Bijbehara, October 13, (Scoop News)-Qazi Ahmed Yasir, Mirwaiz of south Kashmir was expelled by Idara Tableeg I Islami, (ITII), Islamic Research Foundation, as its head preacher on Friday after some obscene videos and photos of Mirwaiz went viral on social and print media.
There was uproar in the area this week after some purportedly obscene videos and photos of the cleric surfaced on the social media.
In a hurriedly convened meeting, the ITII decided to run the affairs of Jamia Masjid as many religious scholars (ulemas) are there, patron of the seminary, said Alhaj Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah.
Keeping in view the aspiration of the people, we have decided the remove Yasir from the post of Mirwaiz, said Abdullah, who is maternal grandfather of Yasir.
We feel embarrassed and remorseful for the allegations leveled against our family, he rued.
Yasir inherited Ummat e Islami (UeI), a socio- religious organization, from his father, Dr Qazi Nissar Ahmed. He (Nissar) rose in position during the launch of one time Muslim United Front (MUF) when he participated in the electoral process by contesting assembly elections in 1987. He was, however, killed by terrorists in 1994 near Dialgam.
