DC convenes an interactive meeting with all the stakeholders in Leh


Leh(Ladakh), October 17 (Scoop News)-DC, Leh Avny Lavasa convened an interactive meeting with all the stakeholders in Leh to take stock of their problems and grievances in her office chamber yesterday. ADC Moses Kunzang, Administrator MC Rigzin Spalgon, Regional Transport Officer Delex Namgial, AD Tourism Tsering Angmo and AD CA&PD Ruth Mary were also present during the meeting.
The stakeholders include Truck, Bus, Maazda, Taxi, Tempo, 207 and 407 Unions, Merchant, Hotel and Contractors Associations, ALTOA and Indian Mountaineering Federation (IMF).
The issue of vintage vehicles with Army was raised by all the transport unions during the interaction. They complained about the non utilization of local vehicles like truck, taxi, buses by army causing them financial loses. The union representatives also assured to punish the defaulters who cause traffic nuisance and urged the Administration to cease such vehicles and charge them with heavy penalty. The Bus and Mazda Unions demanded to streamline and fix the routes respectively.
DC said that issues concerning Army will be taken up with them shortly. She assured to fix the routes for buses in a balanced manner and informed that no new permits will be issued for new buses/mazdas. She urged the transport buses to ensure good and comfortable condition of buses for long distance travels. On demand of drinking water facility by taxi, 207, 407 and tempo traveler representatives, DC said that soon MC will have their own water tanker supplying water daily on need basis.
Merchant Association suggested taking up the cleanliness mission on a more frequent basis, demanded for better water supply in market area, reduction in cargo fare, encouraging them through recognition or rewards and to levy penalty against wrong doers in the business. DC said that Administration is already on working on cleanliness projects and urged for their cooperation in ensuring cleanliness in and around the market. Ruth Mary raised the issue of shopkeepers selling expiry products at the onset of season with the opening of national highways and told the executive body to check and stop such practices.
The representatives of Hotel Association focused on the need to take up projects or measures on public private partnership to address environment related issues. They also raised issues concerning beggars, stray dogs, night patrolling, parking and high altitude related incidents with tourists. DC welcomed their idea of PPP mode work model and assured to look into the matters raised by them.
Likewise, DC also interacted with the President and members of IMF, ALTOA and Contractors Association. She urged them to provide the best of their services and assured them support in effective functioning of their businesses.
