Police Commemoration Day 2018: Police pays tribute to martyrs


Srinagar, October 19(Scoop News)-JK Police pays tribute to martyrs and expresses its indebtedness towards their families.




Martyr. Kultair Singh
Sg.Ct Kultair Singh son of Jiwan Singh resident of Vijaypur, Samba, was born on June 6,1977 and had joined police department on June 12,2001.
He was posted in JKAP13th battalion and was deployed at Chrar-e-Sharief Shrine guard.
On February 25, 2018, terrorists assaulted the constable with their ulterior motive to snatch his service rifle. He fought bravely and tried his utmost to save the weapon but the terrorists showing cowardice fired upon him and injured him seriously. Later he succumbed to his injuries. He was lone source of income for his family.
Martyr Kultair Singh laid down his life while guarding one of the major shrines of valley. His martyrdom at such an auspicious place has left a question mark on the activities of terrorists operating in valley.

Martyr Shamim Ahmad
SgCt Shamim Ahmad son of Mohammad Sultan Thoker was a resident of Check-i-Hanjan, Yaripora, Kulgam. He was born on March 05,1973 and had joined police department on December 23,1998.
On May 11,2018 Shamim was going to offer Friday prayers at a local mosque in the vicinity of the minority guard post where he was deployed. He was unarmed when the terrorists with their ulterior motive of weapon snatching, asked him to lead toward the Guard Post. Showing his presence of mind, Shamim raised an alarm and his alert colleagues inside the Guard Post successfully foiled their attempt. The terrorists fled from the spot leaving behind the constable in a pool of blood.
Later he succumbed to his injuries. He is survived by aged parents, wife, three children.

Martyr Parvaiz Iqbal
Sg.Ct Parvaiz Iqbal son of Mohammad Abbas resident of Budhal in district Rajouri, was born on September 27,2018 and had joined police department on November12,1997.
On August 12,2018 cordon and search operation was launched in Batamaloo area of district Srinagar. During the operation, the hiding terrorists fired upon the search party indiscriminately which resulted in a heavy gun fight. During the encounter Sg. Constable Shamim received bullet injuries and later he succumbed to his injuries, attaining martyrdom. The martyr is survived by aged parents, wife, and two minor children.
