| United Leh defeats Avengers by 58 runs, 30 cricket teams participate | | motto of tournament ‘alcohol, smoking and plastic free region’ |
Leh(Ladakh), November 11, (Scoop News)-Organised by Tip Top Sports and Cultural Society Youth Wing Leh, the United Leh has lifted the title trophy of 3rd Tip Top T20 Cricket Tournament in which 30 clubs representing different regions including Kashmir and Doda had participated.
The final match was played between United Leh and Avenger. After winning the toss, United Leh opted to bat first. They scored 225 runs for four wickets in the 20 over game. Chasing the target, the Avengers could score only 167 runs in their stipulated 20 over play.
The winning team United Leh was awarded cash reward of rupees 50,000 and a trophy who won the game by 58 runs. The runners up team, Avenger, was given rupees 30,000 reward.
The Deputy Commissioner Leh, Avny Lavasa, gave away the prizes to the teams and other sports persons. She was the chief guest at the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Lavasa said that sports activities could be a medium for promoting worthwhile message among the masses as different people observing different faiths and beliefs play together.
Earlier, while presenting welcome address Tip Top acting president, Tashi Norbu, told the gathering that the aim behind holding of the tournament was to make the region alcohol and smoking free. He said that the tournament got huge response from different sporting clubs. Due to limited infrastructure only 30 cricket teams could be accommodated in the event.
Played at NDS grounds, the motto of the tournament was ‘no alcohol, no smoking and no plastic’ in the region.
