| BCC Sunderbani offers floral tributes to Smt Gandhi on her birth anniversary | | ex sarpanches and ex panches attend function |
Jammu, November 19, (Scoop News)-A function was held at Sunderbani, organized by block Congress Committee Sunderbani in which JKPCC leader, Ravinder Sharma was the chief guest. Large number of people including ex-sarpanches and ex-panches attended the function and paid rich tributes to Smt. Indira Gandhi on her 101st Birth Anniversary, today.
Addressing the gathering, Ravinder Sharma recalled her contribution in the freedom struggle, especially when entire top brass of Congress party were arrested in 1942 during ‘Quit India Movement’, she took upon the leadership of freedom movement.
He described her as a dynamic leader who was always committed to the welfare of the poor and the downtrodden in the country. She launched various programmes for the upliftment of the poor and the weaker sections of the society. Smt. Gandhi was the messiah of poor and downtrodden.
She was also the symbol of women empowerment as first woman Prime Minister of the Country and always worked for ensuring the equal participation of women in every sphere of life. She firmly believed that secularism is the basic strength of our nation and fought against the communal forces in The country progressed on all fronts under her leadership.
She continued the efforts of her father Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, to further the growth of science and technology in the country, leading to the achievement of nuclear capability for the nation in order to safeguard the interests of the nation. He recalled some of her contributions and bold steps for which nation would ever remain indebted to her He said that she was really an iron lady and a bold leader.
Sharma further that there are calculated attempts to twist the historical facts in order to mislead the countrymen about the role, contributions and achievements of the Congress party and its great leaders in nation building and its march towards progress as a secular and moderate democracy in the World.
He asked the party workers to fight against the false & misleading propaganda of BJP and its leadership towards Congress party and added that BJP has nothing to say to its achievements and now trying to hide its misdeed by spreading lie in the Country.
