Bring J&K Bank under CVC, RTI to protect interests of depositors

Jammu, December 06 (Scoop News)-Appreciating Governor Satya Pal Malik for his bold and much-awaited decision to bring J&K Bank under the RTI, chairman of Team Jammu Zorawar Singh Jamwal today said that this decision would ensure transparency and accountability in the functioning of the Bank.
Addressing monthly meeting of Team Jammu volunteers at Head Office Shakti Nagar, Mr Zorawar Singh Jamwal brining transparency and accountability in the functioning of the Bank would restore faith of lakhs and lakhs of depositors of this Bank who are native of the state of J&K.
“Bringing J&K Bank under the purview of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) guidelines and the state legislature is revolutionary step to protect interests of the residents of J&K who are really owner of this Bank due to their deposits in the Bank”, Zorawar Singh Jamwal said and ridiculed some Kashmir centric parties and vested interests for raising hue and cry over this decision.
“What is wrong in bringing transparency and accountability in the functioning of the Bank?”, he asked and added that those who were opposing this revolutionary decision has some petty personal interests to loot deposits of lakhs and lakhs of the residents of J&K.

He opined that Governor Satya Pal Malik's decision to treat the J&K Bank as a public sector undertaking will go a long way in ensuring transparency and dealing with public money.

“Bringing J&K Bank under the purview of RTI by the state government is a welcome step. It will go a long way in ensuring transparency in dealing with public money by the premium banking company of the state”, Singh.
He said that there are lakhs of people in the state who have their money and investments in the bank without even knowing the investments by a bank or the list and number of defaulters.
There had been serious allegations in the media against the functioning of the bank, but till date the bank succeeded in hiding the truth under the carpet as it was evading supply of information is out of the RTI regime, Singh said.
Team Jammu chairman; however, took BJP leadership to task for half-heartedly supporting Governor’s decision. “Some top BJP leaders too had taken undue benefit from J&K Bank so party leadership is hesitating to support Governor’s decision”, he said and added that it an open secret that top BJP leadership of J&K had extracted huge personal benefits from J&K Bank at the cost of common people.
