CEC Kargil inspects 1.5 MW Sangrah Mini HP

Kargil, December 7, (Scoop News)-Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan today visited 1.5 MW Sangrah Mini Hydel Project and inspected the current status of power generation at the project.
The CEC was accompanied by Councillor Thasgam Abdul Rahim, Councillor Tai Suru Aga Syed Abbass Razvi, Project Director Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA) Kacho Ahmad Khan, Executive Engineer M&RE PDD Altaf Ahmad besides other concerned officers.
The CEC went round different sections of the project and inquired from the engineers about the power supply being provided to the locals these days.
The engineers informed the CEC that a limited power is being generated at the project in the winter time due to low discharge of water in the canal.
The locals, while expressing serious concern over the unsatisfactory power supply from the project, cited technical faults and said that power is not being generated despite the availability of sufficient water in the project canal. They urged the CEC to intervene into the matter and direct the authorities of KREDA to rectify the technical faults so as to ensure smooth supply of power.
Responding to concern of the people, the CEC directed the Project Director KREDA to personally look into the matter and constitute committees comprising engineers as well as the village representatives to ascertain the actual cause of low power generation. He fixed one week’s deadline for the committee to come up with its findings and assured the locals that requisite follow up steps will be taken as per the committees report.
Meanwhile, the locals projected a number of demands including the construction of check dams and crates along the sides of the project canal, modification in the power transmission line from Mini Hydel Project Sangrah to Sangrah Thang, up gradation of the Hydel Project approach road, provision of new DG sets at Chullungs, Banyalsa and Youkma villages, repair of transformers at Goma and Lunkha besides other demands.
The CEC gave a patient hearing to all demands and concerns of the people and assured them that all genuine demands will be fulfilled in a phased manner.
