| Sham vows to take regional autonomy battle to logical conclusion | | ‘Express concern over political appointments through backdoor during Governor Rule’ |
Akhnoor, December 09 (Scoop News)-Reitratring his demand of granting regional autonomy to Jammu province to ensure equitable and balanced development in all regions and sub-regions of the State, former Minister and senior Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma today cautioned people against those forces which are hell bent to divide Jammu on the religious line. He aruged that only regional autonomy would end discrimination with Jammu region.
Addressing a function to felicitate only elected Sarpanches and Panches of Akhnooor sub-division of Jammu district, Sham Lal said that it was hightime for all pro-Jammu forces to come on same plateform to launch a deciding battle for getting regional autonomy. “It is writing on the wall, sooner of latter Jammu will be regional autonomy”, he predicted and asserted that Akhnoor is going to play an import role in shaping future of coming generation of Jammu region.
“History is testimony to the fact that foundation of Dogra dynasty, which ruled J&K for nearly 100 years, was laid at Jaipota at Akhnoor on the bank of the river Chenab when Maharaja Ranjeet Singh had coronated first Dogra ruler Maharaja Ghulab Singh”, Sharma recalled, adding, “Now the historic Akhnoor is again going to play an important role in ending discrimination with Jammu region as people of Jammu belt have decided to take battle for regional council to the logical conclusion”.
“Battle to end discrimination with Jammu region will be taken to the logical conclusion”, Sharma asserted but cautioned the people against leaders like Dr Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, who are hell bent to divide Jammu on religious lines just to pursue ‘divide and rule’ policy in Jammu. “It is responsibility of every citizen of Jammu to frustrate evil designs of those who are trying to divide us on religious line”, he said.
Former Minister also took Governor Satya Pal Malik to task for making political appointments in the state at the behest of BJP and described it as a sheer political opportunism of the ruling party. “It is glaring example of shamelessly violating all all norms and set precedents. It is first time in the history that Governor is making political appointments”, he said and recent appointment of board of the Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) is an example who BJP is hell bent to erode the different institutions through its own Governor to whom party’s state president had described ‘Apna Banda’. He pointed out that BJP leaders and their close relatives have been appointed as members of the Board of the KVIB.

Ex M.P. Sh Madan lal Sharma said that this befitting reply to the misgovernance of erstwhile Govt. Infact no developmental work was carried out during their tenure in the area and so much so the developmental works under process during the Congress government were put on hold because of their egoistic character. He also said that this victory is the people’s victory which were fed up with the callous attitude of BJP.
He said that the people were deprived of from their amenities like issue of ration,drinking water and electricity,the people were feeling cheated by voting BJP.
He further said that people wanted change and end to their long pending development related issues due to an easy access to their elected representatives.
He exhorted elected Sarpanch and Panches to work hard for the development of their respective areas and make themselves easily available to the people and discuss the developmental and basic amenities issue with them for speedy and well planned works.
