Work to dismantle 45 years old 60 Mtrs Choglamsar bridge starts



Leh, December 11 (Scoop News)- The dismantling work of 45 years old 60 Mtrs Choglamsar bridge (Martin Burne Calcutta steel structure single line bridge) begins from today for which men and machines were already engaged from last night and traffic on this bridge was also stopped. The commuters are requested to use Shashi and Spituk-Palam Bridges to cross Indus River. It is to mention that a new 60 Mtrs span double line bridge under CRF (Rs. 7.50 crore) with footpath on both sides will be launched.

The Deputy Chairman LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal along with Executive Councilor for Minorities Mumtaz Hussain and Councilor Phyang Punchok Dorjey inspected the dismantling work of bridge at the site today.

Dy. Chairman directed SE PWD and Exn. Construction to speed up the dismantling work of bridge and ensure minimum inconvenience to the people by building foot suspension bridge at a suitable nearby location so that people could cross the river smoothly.
