Army organises Pir Panjal cross country league | |
Udhampur , December 15 (Scoop News)-With an aim to bring in communal harmony and inculcate sportsmanship amongst the youth, the Indian Army organized a 'Pir Panjal Cross Country League' on 15 Dec 18 at Kalal, Reasi. The event was aimed to promote positive youth development through sports and provide a platform to showcase the hidden talent of local youth. A Total of six events in various categories were organised. The first being a 12 Km Cross Country run in which teams of six districts and one sub division namely Doda, Poonch, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri, Reasi and Naushera participated. Reasi District team stood first in 12 km run category while Rajouri District team was runners up. A 'Run for Fun' event of 3 Km and 5 Km was organised for children (both boys and girls) between age categories of 11-14 years and 15-18 years respectively. Apart from these, 'Run for Unity' was also organised for the Army Veterans. More than 280 youth, children and veterans participated in these events and all participants were distributed T-shirts and Caps. Major General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding, Uniform Force was the Chief Guest for the event. From the civil administration Mr. Sachin Dev Singh, KAS, ADC, Naushera and SHO, Naushera were also present to boost the morale of the enthusiastic participants in the event. The chief guest expressed his happiness on the enthusiasm shown by all the participants. He also complimented the locals for making the event a grand success and was convinced that such events help in honing the hidden talent of the state while enhancing the coordination and synergy between the Army, Civil Administration and the AWAM.
