Army pays tribute to soldier killed in Pulwama encounter

Srinagar, December 16 (Scoop News)- The Army on Sunday paid tribute to Sowar Kishan Singh, who was killed at Village Sirnoo of Pulwama District in an encounter on Saturday.

Defence spokesperson said that Army, today, paid a befitting tribute to Late Sowar Kishan Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice during Counter Terrorist operation on 15th December 2018 at Village Sirnoo of Pulwama District, wherein three terrorists were eliminated. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to the martyr.

He said that Late Sowar Kishan Singh, sustained bullet injuries during a fierce operation at Sirnoo Village in Pulwama district. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The martyr, Late Sowar Kishan Singh, was 29 years old and had joined the Army in 2010. He belonged to Village Bhinchri of Ratangarh Tehsil in Churu, Rajasthan and is survived by his wife and two sons.

The mortal remains of the martyr were taken for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family of the martyr and remains committed to their dignity and well being.
