| BJP restores majority in LAHDC-Leh, five miffed councilors revoke their resignation | | assurances given by party leadership |
Leh(Ladakh), January 7, (Scoop News)-After hard persuasion and assurances, five Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Councillors of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)- Leh have withdrawn their resignations at a meeting summoned by party’s senior leader and a lawmaker in the state legislative council, Chering Dorjey.
Informed party sources said that BJP would take up the issue of creation of another post of executive councilor for LAHDC- Leh in which a councilor from Changthang region will be adjusted. “This was the main demand of these five miffed councilors who had recently tendered their resignations,” they added.
The sources said the grievances of the agitating councilors were addressed and the trouble has been subsided for now.
With repealing to resignation by five councilors, the BJP has restored its majority in house of 30 members. Earler, the party was reduced to a minority with only 12 councillors, two short of the simple majority.... |
