ITBP organised Seven days tour of Bharat Darshan


Leh, ,Janary 14 (Scoop News)-Seven days tour of Bharat Darshan organised by 24th Battalion of ITBP for 30 girl students with poor family background from different villages of Leh district accompanied with two local teachers and two supervisors of 24th Bn of ITBP were flagged in during a function held at Kumba Hall, ITBP, Leh.

Jai Pal Yadav, DIG, ITBP, Leh was the chief guest on the occasion. Senior officers representing different battalions of ITBP, other senior officials, ex-servicemen, soldiers and the group of students and teachers returned from the Bharat Darshan tour were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, DIG, ITBP said that the so far 10 tours of Bharat Darshan have been conducted by ITBP under Civic Action Program in which around 380 boys and girls students from remote border areas especially from Changthang were taken for excursion and exposure tour to different states of India. He said that the main objective of this tour program is to connect the Ladakhi students to mainstream India and give them exposure of ancient and rich heritage of India as a diverse country. He said that 9 more tours are to be conducted in coming days.

He informed that these tours are being conducted under Civic Action Program funded by government of India for the year 2016-17 and 2017-18 and assured fair use of money to give maximum benefit to the local children. He added that this fund has been utilized to provide infrastructure like classrooms, water pumps, computer accessories and computer classes to the border population with the aim to create healthy bond between civilians and army. He appreciated 24 Bn of ITBP, their two supervisors and local teachers for the successful conduct of the tour.

A brief presentation was also presented about the tour during which the girl students were taken to Delhi and Ahmadabad. The students also shared their tour experiences on the occasion and expressed gratitude to ITBP for organizing this tour and giving them the opportunity to see new places of which they have only heard or read in books.

A small musical cultural program was also presented by the girl students.
