| JTN presents ITBP the 12th CEC Ice Hockey Cup winning trophy | | 
Leh,January 17 (Scoop News)-The final match of the 12th CEC Ice Hockey Cup 2018-19 (Men) was played at Karzoo Ice Hockey Rink Leh today between ITBP team and Skara team which was won by ITBP by 6 goals to 5. Total nine teams (men) and seven women teams have participated in this tournament which was jointly organized by Department of Youth Services & Sports, LAHDC, Leh and Ladakh Winter Sports Club.
On the final day function, CEC, LAHDC, Leh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal was the chief guest while the Dy. Chairman, LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal was the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, JTN said that Ladakhi youth has no dearth of talent which is evident through their enthusiastic and high spirited participation in tournaments like Ladakh School Olympics, winter games and inter school tournaments across the district. However, we lack the facility of good sports infrastructure in giving our youngsters the much needed platform to excel to their best ability.
In view of this, Leh Hill Council is fully committed and focused on creating sports facilities and infrastructures in the district, JTN said and added that certain important steps have been taken by the Council to complete the long pending Ice Hockey Ring at Leh by bringing Rs: 9 crore. He also mentioned about the active progress on the upcoming Rs: 23 crore open stadium in Leh and said that this stadium is going to prove a big boon for the young players of Leh district to polish and excel their sporting talent very soon.
JTN also underlined the potential and possibility of conducting Winter school Olympic in Leh and assured that LAHDC will take every steps to make this happen in near future. Mentioning about LAHDC’s efforts in recruiting a number of Physical Education Teachers in the past two months, CEC said that this will also help in boosting games and sports at school level.
CEC credited Ladakh Winter Sports Club and District Youth Services & Sports Department for their tireless efforts and contribution in promoting winter sports in Leh district and assured full support of LAHDC in further development of the sport of Ice Hockey.
The Executive Councilor Health, Tsering Sangdup, Executive Councilor Agriculture, Stanzin Phuntsog, Councilors of LAHDC, President, Ladakh Winter Sports Club, Gyalpo Namgyal Wangchuk, Advisor, Ladakh Winter Sports Club, PT Kungzang and huge number of audiences attended the final match.
At the end, the chief guest and the guest of honor gave trophies to the winner and runner up teams.
