Advisor Ganai inaugurates 3-day Jammu Mahotsav


Jammu, February 09 (Scoop News)-Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai today inaugurated 3-day Jammu Festival being organized by Directorate of Tourism, Jammu here today.

Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Ganai appreciated the efforts of Tourism Department for organizing Jammu Mahotsav at Mega Scale. He stressed on organizing next edition of Jammu Mahotsav for seven days and organize more such festivals in each district to promote Culture, Art and Craft of each region.

Ramesh Arora, MLC, Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Rigzin Samphael, Secretary, Tourism, Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, O.P. Bhagat, Director Tourism, Jammu and officers from different line Departments were also present.

The highlight of function was the LED Tron act and colourful cultural performances depicting the culture of different regions of the State like Dogri, Gojri, Kashmiri and Ladakhi. A live painting on Amar Mahal Palace was also performed by the renowned Artist of the soil K.K. Gandhi.

Similar functions were also organized at Mubarak Mandi, Jammu where folk and Dogra cultural programmes were performed by local artists. A Photo Exhibition depicting photographs of various tourist destinations of Jammu and ethnic food stall were also installed.

Bagh-e-Bahu also witnessed heavy rush where local cultural programmes and ethnic food stalls were the main attractions. The main highlights of the event organized at Mansar and Chichi Mata were the cultural performances showcasing rich Dogra, cultural heritage. A large number of local and school children as well as tourist from Gujarat also witnessed the event at Mansar.

Large number of people were also present at Jammu Mahotsav celebrations at Suchetgarh R.S. Pura where Dogra Culture, Songs were showcased by the local artists. Special tour buses to Gharana Wet land also plied for tourists visiting the border to witness the rare Siberian bird species and to promote Border Circuit.

Nukkad show were organized at Raghunath Mandir Chowk, Ghas Chowk and Vir Market, Jammu for creating awareness on social issues among the general public

The Jammu Mahotsav will continue upto 10th of February, 2019 which will include performances by local artists like Sonali Dogra, Jeevan Sharma, Dr. Deepali Wattal, Dharmesh Nargotra, Jackson, Satinder and Aditya, Akash Dogra, Rohit Sharma and other local artists and live performances by celebrities - Sherry Mann, Abha Hanjura.
