Mehbooba accuses governor of executing hidden agenda of BJP
dividing Muslims on religious and sectarian lines, Gyalson defends ‘Div Com’ office at Leh




Srinagar/Leh, February 14, (Scoop News)-Charging the Centre of playing with fire by trying to divide the state on religious and sectarian lines, Peoples democratic Party (PDP) president, Meehbooba Mufti, has blamed the Governor, Sat Pal Malik, of furthering and implementing the agenda of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in the state.

“I want to tell the Governor sahib and central government that you are playing with fire by creating divisions among regions and people,” she told media persons here on Wednesday while referring to the recent decision of the governor’s administration by declaring Leh as the permanent headquarters of the newly created administrative/ revenue division and ignoring the demand of the people Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley areas of Jammu province.

Mehbooba said after BJP failed to implement its agenda when In coalition with PDP, the governor is acting at the behest of New Delhi and implementing their agenda in the state. She said some of the recent decision ‘implemented by the government of India through the governor were anti people and against the sentiments of the people.

Referring to her tenure as the chief minister of BJP- PDP coalition government, she asserted that she did not let BJP to implement their agenda in Kashmir.

PDP leader said that it is through the Governor that Centre is implementing its decisions that are against the sentiments of the people. She said that Central government must understand that Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim majority state and while implementing any decision, the care should be taken to respect the sentiments of the people of both the majority and minority communities.

Mehbooba said it seems that there is a hidden hand of the Central government behind the decision in stationing the headquarters of the newly carved out third division at Leh. She said there should be rotational headquarter for Ladakh besides Pir Panjal and Chenab valley should also be granted divisional status to avoid agitation by the people.

If the government doesn’t take remedial measures in this regard it would be construed that they have a hidden agenda to dis empower Muslims on religious and sectarian lines. “You are creating divisions between Kashmiri- Punjabi, Gujjar- Pahari, Shia-Sunni and by doing so you are trying to dilute Muslim majority character of the state. We will not allow this to happen,” she asserted.

PDP leader appreciated people of Jammu and Qazigund area for providing food to the stranded passengers.

Meanwhile, rejecting the idea of having ‘Div Com’ office on rotational basis, Leh district president of PDP, Tashi Gyalson, has defended that the headquarters of newly formed division of Ladakh region should stay at Leh while the office of Inspector General of Police should be set at Kargil.

“Having divisional headquarters on rotational basis will have serious financial implications. This would invariably overburden the limited funds meant for the region,” he averred.

Gyalson said that all the directorate offices with their sub ordinate wings should be shared in equal numbers between the two districts. ...
