SCST & BC Dev Corporation, Horticulture Department sign MoU
Jammu, February 14 (Scoop News)-J&K SC ST & BC Corporation Limited and Horticulture Department today entered into a MoU regarding implementation of horticulture schemes (especially food processing) in convergence mode with focused attention on socio-economic upliftment of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Notified National Minorities.
The MoU was signed by the Managing Director of SC ST & BC Corporation, Ravinder Kumar Bhat and Director Horticulture, Rakesh Kumar Srangal in presence of the Corporation officials and officers of the Horticulture Department.
The convergence of scheme under this MoU will provide great opportunity to the unemployed youth of the target group to set up self employment ventures in a hassle free and convenient manner.
It was informed that Safai Karamcharies, Scavangers, their dependents and handicapped categories fall under the eligibility criteria prescribed by the Corporation and the Department. Both the partners shall identify eligible members of the said groups to set-up their income generating units to improve their Socio-economic status.
The Horticulture Department through field agencies viz. CHO'S, CCI, MCC'S intends to provide necessary training to such identified members and will sponsor them to Corporation for providing finance (loan) at concessional rates of interest (which otherwise the beneficiaries cannot afford from Commercial Financial Institutions) for setting up of income generating units.
The Directorate Horticulture Jammu shall provide prescribed subsidy/financial assistance to these unit-holders through JK SC ST & BC Development Corporation Limited on DBT mode. The Department shall impart advanced technical Know-how for establishment of the proposed units.
The unit so established shall be jointly monitored by the Department of Horticulture and Corporation at regular intervals. Both the partners will create marketing avenues for sale of products by the beneficiaries. This was decided that Horticulture Department and the Corporation on diversified activities like Green House, Organic farming and other traditional trades/activities.
