| 15 days basic cricket coaching for girls concludes | | 
Leh, March 14 (Scoop News)-The 15 days basic cricket coaching camp for girls under Khelo India “ Sports for Peace & development” has been concluded here today which was organized by the District Administration through District Youth Services & Sports Department, Leh. On the closing function, the Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Leh Avny Lavasa was the chief guest and Additional District Development Commissioner, Leh Moses Kunzang and district officers were present.
About 30 girls mostly students participated in this coaching camp and to mark the concluding juncture, an exhibition match between Yellow team and Blue team was played which was won by Blue team by 3 wickets.
Appreciating the performance of the players mainly the cricketing techniques, the Addl. DDC, Moses Kunzang said that this 15 days coaching camp for the budding girls has been proven successful and hoped that Leh will soon be able to produce a good women cricket team. He said that during the past two years, the district administration has organized various sport events with the aim to provide platform for the youngsters, giving them appropriate opportunities for exploring their sporting talent in various field and among those, Ladakh School Olympic was a successful mega event with huge participation of students across Leh district. To make the School Olympic more prominent with larger participation, the administration is planning to hold this event in ending May this year, he added. Moses Kunzang stressed the need of active involvement of students in different sporting activities with sportsman spirit which would not only help them for physical and mental development but would also make them well disciplined.
Later talking to the media, DC Leh Avny Lavasa said that these young girls who were seen applying basic techniques of cricket during the match is a good sign that the 15 days coaching camp was a quite successful. She expressed pleasure over witnessing an exciting exhibition match here which was a very close match till last ball was bowled.
Trophies and prizes were distributed among the teams and players.
