Moses for strictly implementation on MCC

Leh,March 23 (Scoop News)- The Addl. District Development Commissioner, Leh Moses Kunzang who is also the Nodal Officer, Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for Lok Sabha elections held an interaction with the representatives of various political parties and owners of Printing Press yesterday and briefed them in detail about the rules and regulations of Model Code of Conduct. He said that District Election Authority is all set to put in place all necessary arrangements to ensure free and fair elections to the general Lok Sabha and in this regards different committees have been framed to check the implementation of MCC. Moses further apprised the political parties about monitoring on election expenditure, ceiling limit on election expenditure, certification of advertisement, putting up of flags, banners and time of their installation and removal, need of pre-certification of political advertisement on social media, time frame for disposal of applications and other legal provisions. He said that the Static Surveillance Teams and the Flying Squad Teams which have already been deployed in various places would also keep a close eye on every activities of the political parties and as such he strongly urged upon them to strictly follow the guidelines of Model Code of Conduct. Moses Kunzang further appealed the political parties to cooperate with the election authority to ensure free and fair elections without any violation of the MCC.

The Nodal Officer for Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) Zakir Hussain briefed the political parties about the role of MCMC in conducting a free, fair and transparent elections. He said that the main role of this committee includes previewing, scrutinizing and verifying all advertisement by the candidates or political parties before inserting in the electronic media and to scan all media such as news papers, print media, electronic media, social media and paid news.

The Nodal Officer Expenditure Monitoring Committee Jigmet Namgyal in a presentation said that each contesting candidate can make an expenditure with a ceiling limit of Rs: 70 lakh during the coming parliamentary elections and the committee in coordination with Static Surveillance Team and Flying Squad team would keep a close watch on the spends of all the candidates. He also made a mention of C-Vigil App, through which any voter can compliant about any violation of model code of conduct.
