Jammu Ring Road Project: DC inspects progress on 8 KM Kot-Bhalwal stretch


Jammu,July 11 (Scoop News)- Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar today inspected the progress of work on 8 KM stretch of Jammu Ring Road project here in Kot Bhalwal.

The DC visited various work sites in Kot Bhalwal, Kangar and Kangrail to inspect the land acquisition and work done on the road stretch.

The liaison officer of the executing agency briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the work done so far and future plans to complete the project timely. Kumar also discussed issues related to pending structures, land possessions, and other related matters. He directed the executing agency to remove the existing bottlenecks and expedite the pace of work to meet the time lines and to make the road traffic worthy before November.

It is pertinent to mention that, the 58.25 km, 4-lane Jammu Ring Road, being built at a cost of Rs 2023.87 crore, will start from Raya Morh of the Jammu-Pathankot national highway in Samba district and connect with Jagti on the Jammu-Udhampur national highway in Jammu district.

There will be 8 large bridges, 6 flyovers, 2 tunnels and 4 via ducts on this route, the motorists and commuters will have a smooth travel experience on the road which will connect 60 villages from the national highway.

The Deputy Commissioner expressed satisfaction on the progress achieved in the land acquisitions for the project as most of the land acquisition proceedings have been completed and land is being handed over to the NHAI.

He directed the NHAI to maintain close coordination with line departments including PHE, PDD, PWD(R&B), Irrigation and Flood Control for smooth construction of Ring Road and inform him directly in case of any difficulty.

Among others accompanying the Deputy Commissioner were SDM Jammu North Satish Sharma, representatives of the NHAI and other officers of line departments.
