Jammu, July 21, (Scoop News)-The Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, asserted that none could prevent the resolution of vexed Kashmir issue and the government of the day very well knew how to unravel this knot if the talks did not work.
The Defence Minister was on a day long maiden visit of the state after assuming the charge of new portfolio following Modi led government was reelected. During his visit he paid floral tributes to Kargil martyrs at Drass in Kargil district besides inaugurating two major bridges in Jammu rergion.

Addressing a gathering before inaugurating a strategic bridge over River Ujh connecting Parole- Korepannu- Rajpura along International Border (IB) in Kathua district, 80 km south of Jammu, the winter capital of north Himalayan state of Jammu and Kashmir, Rajnath Singh squarely blamed separatists for balking the talks and recalled his series of appeals as the Home Minister of the country to them.
“They did not respond to appeals or come forward for talks. They refused to meet a delegation of senior parliamentarians who had gone to meet them. They didn’t even open their doors to them. These self styled leaders send their wards to study or do jobs in other countries while they hoodwink and instigate simple and innocent educated youth, children of average Kashmiri people, as young as 10 year or 12 year to resort to stone throwing. They tamper with their future, spoil it and guide them to raise pro Azadi slogans,” he stated.
“What kind of Azadi- the kind as is being observed and enjoyed in Pakistan? We won’t let anyone to restrict India’s march towards accomplishing the target of third largest economy by 2030,” the Defence Minister said.
He said that it pained him to see the condition of the valley which terrorists had been fixated to convert it to an infernal region from a paradise.
“Our army has with great efforts has contained terrorism to a large extent. We want to turn out not only Kashmir but entire Jammu and Kashmir into a heaven again. But there are few inimical forces which don’t want it to happen.”
There are no two opinions about it that the Kashmir will get rid of terrorists soon, Defence Minister said adding that “I believe as in case of any act of terror occurring in any part of the world, the way the international community is rallying around on one platform, joining hands to take on this threat, it will be wiped out not only in Kashmir elsewhere in the country but the entire world.”
“Be confident, Kashmir issue will be resolved. No power on earth can prevent us. If it cannot happen through talks, we know how it can be accomplished and resolved. And you know when I say something, it is not grandiloquence. I say what I mean because I speak after a careful thought,” he added.
Rajnath Singh said Kashmir enjoyed a place of pride in our hearts and the government wants it to become not only paradise of India but prominent tourist destination of the world.
“We want speedy development and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. Connectivity is the way towards it. Process was launched by the former Prime Minister (PM), Atal Behari Vajpayee and is being carried forward with greater pace by the present PM, Narendra Modi,” he said. ... |
