Ladakh Buddhist Association demands Constitutional Safeguards For Ladakh


Leh(Ladakh),February 17 (Scoop News Desk)- Demanding constitutional safeguard to Ladakh region, all the religious and political leaders of Leh District led by Ladakh Buddhist Association Leh took out massive peace rally today.
Religious body includes Ladakh Buddhist Association, Ladakh Gonpa Association, Anjuman Imamia, Anjuman Moin-Ul-Islam and Christian Community.
The rally attended by every household even from far flung areas of all regions of Leh district started from Leh Bazaar to culminate at Historical Polo Ground.
All the speakers thanked the Union Government for the landmark decision of granting the UT status to Ladakh and fulfilling 71 years old genuine demands and aspirations of the people of Ladakh.
Speaker includes LBA President PT Kunzang, Vice President Rinchen Namgyal, LGA President Venerable Shatup Chamba, Anjuman Imamia Vice President Sheikh Nazir, Anjuman Moin-Ul-Islam Coordinator Haji Riyaz Ahmed, Christian Community Advisor George Elliott, BJP President Dorjay Angchuk and Congress President Tsering Namgyal.
Presenting 15 points memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submitted to Lt.Governor Advisor Umang Narula, they demanded land protection, employment and job reservations, protection and preservation of culture, language and ethnicity of Ladakh, protection of fragile eco system, protection of interest of the business community, strengthening empowerment/re-organization and delimitation of LAHDC, separate Rajya Sabha seat for Ladakh, complete tax exemption, establishment of High Court in the Union Territory of Ladakh, inclusion of Bhoti language in the VIII schedule of the Indian constitution, Caderisation of employees, establishment of Ladakh Public Service Commission, establishment of the long awaited Minority Commission, protection of the citizenship of the people of Ladakh and promotion of Agriculture sectors.
