| Ex MLC Gupta expresses concern over termination of paramedics engaged under SRO-24 | | Jammu, April 06 (Scoop News)- Former MLC and senior National Conference leader Mr Rattan Lal Gupta today expressed concern over the reported termination of the paramedical staff engaged by the government in pursuance of SRO-24, saying that this is sheer injustice, especially at a time when the humanity is grappling with horrendous corona virus and there is larger need of the health workers.
Referring to the recent protest by the aggrieved staffers in the premises of Medical College Associate Hospital Kathua, Mr Rattan Lal Gupta said in a statement that they had to go for strike instead of getting engaged in fight against the pandemic.
He said medics and para-medics are the front-line warriors in global fight against Covid-19 and the government must acknowledge this reality and come to the rescue of these protesting para-medics by sympathetically considering their demands.
The reported termination appears to be illogical, as the governments across the country are urging the retired medical professionals to help in the prevailing situation but those performing their duties are being made to stage protests, Mr Gupta said, hoping that the administration will look into the issue earnestly and redress the grievances of protesting paramedics.
Mr Gupta also urged the administration to intensify the measures of providing essentials to such of the segments of the society who were totally dependent on daily earnings and are rendered jobless due to mandatory lock-down. They need compassion and support of the society in general and the government in particular, the former MLC added.
