COVID-19: Fifty sample reports of negative in Ladakh | Condition of 5 positives is stable | Leh,April 06 (Scoop News)- All fifty sample reports received during the last two days are negative of COVID-19, stated Commissioner/Secretary Health & Medical Education UT Ladakh Rigzin Samphel in today’s press conference. Maximum reports are of Sanjak, Haknis, and Chiktan villages of Kargil district and Achinathang village of Leh district. The condition of all five positive cases is stable, he added. Com/Sec Samphel briefed about the setting up of the Polymerised Chain Reaction (PCR) lab testing in Leh. This machine would be useful in running various genetic related tests other than tests for COVID-19. Senior Microbiologist Dr Kunzang Chorol, currently working with AIIMS New Delhi would be joining this lab, he added. He further added that, as per GoI advisory everyone is now required to wear a (home-made) mask, he said. He urged upon the people for following proper health hygiene while using such home-made masks as per the advisory issued by the Health Department. People can also visit the Health Department Leh youtube website to learn about the mask-hygiene practice, he added. He also appreciated the initiative taken by a Kargil NGO for manufacturing of masks. As per the daily report on Public Health measures taken for COVID-19 infection prevention and control, Block Medical Officer Tangtse conducted training of ASHAs of Durbuk block on the 4th of this month on surveillance, contact tracking and mitigating stigma discrimination of COVID-19. Also, Paediatrician SDH Nubra Dr Norphel and Medical Officer Dr Tashi examined all monks of Samstanling Gonpa and conducted an awareness programme on COVID-19 on the 3rd of this month.
