District level Centre for Women, MSK Kishtwar spreads Awareness regarding Menstrual Hygiene
Kishtwar, May 21 (Scoop News)-With an aim to sensitise the underprivileged women of Kishtwar, District Level Centre for Women,Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) on the directions of District Development Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajinder Singh Tara, organised an awareness campaign for women living in slum areas about the importance of Menstrual Hygiene .
Women Welfare Officer Miss Roohie Shamma along with District Co-ordinators Miss Shanu Rana and Hina Jan came forward and distributed free sanitary pads to the needy women as they do not have access to sanitary napkins, and depend on unhygienic alternatives like rag, cloth, ash, sand, and many more, Besides, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic it has become even more difficult for poor women to access menstrual hygiene products.
While giving awareness, Women welfare officer Roohie Shamma stressed on the importance of menstrual hygiene and further said that if we want to remove the stigma of Menstrual Hygiene from the society, we have to educate the masses. Further District Coordinators Hina Jan and Shanu Rana also enlightened them about how to take care of women during menstrual cycle.
