Kargil, (Ladakh), March 23 (Scoop News)- In a bid to empower and educate the voters, Government Degree College Zanskar in collaboration with SVEEP Team Zanskar Sub Division today held the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Program in the college campus.
Sveep is a flagship program of the Election Commission of India to educate people on voting right and voting procedures.
The idea of the program was to enhance the voters participation for stronger democracy.
SDM/ERO Zanskar, Romil Singh Donk was the chief guest on the occasion. AERO/Tehsildar Zanskar, ZEPO and BDO Zanskar also participated in the program.
The program started by welcoming the guests with traditional khataks by Mohd. Ishaq, Principal GDC Zanskar. In his welcome adress , the principal threw light on the importance of greater participation in the voting process.
A pledge was the part of event. Campus Ambassador, Stanzin Palzom student of BA third semester spoke on the occasion and urged for greater participation. Dr Jamphel Shyan, Assistant Professor also threw light on the theme.
At the end SDM/ERO Zanskar, Romil Singh Donk spoke at length about the significance of the students acting as ambassador for instilling awareness among masses regarding the importance of elections and voting. He appealed the students to actively involve in infusing electoral awareness among the community.
Signature campaign and voters’ selfie point were also highlight of the event, where guests, faculty members and students actively participated. The event concluded with vote of thanks by AERO Zanskar, Mohd. Hassan.
