World Tuberculosis Day observed in Kargil

Kargil,March 24 (Scoop News)-World Tuberculosis Day was observed today at Training Hall of Chief Medical Officer Kargil where distinguished guests and healthcare professionals threw light on the importance of combating TB and its impact on communities.

Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Shrikant Suse was the chief guest and while Chief Medical Officer Kargil was the special guest.

DC Kargil emphasised the importance of enhancing notification rates, tracing efforts and sputum examination rates. He advised to provide a free helpline number at district level and directed to work on an action plan.

DC Kargil assured administrative support to bolster initiatives aimed at eliminating TB from the district, reaffirming the commitment of local authorities to this cause.

Chief Medical Officer Kargil shared valuable insights into the evolution of TB management from historical perspectives to contemporary approaches, underscoring the need for continuous innovation and commitment in tackling the disease.

District TB Officer Kargil delivered a presentation on TB and its implications, emphasizing the urgency of addressing this public health challenge.

Subsequently, District Programme Coordinator provided insights into the performance report, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement in the fight against TB. Later, Dr Fatima Banoo concluded the program with vote of thanks.

World Tuberculosis Day, observed on 24 March each year, is designed to build public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis and efforts to eliminate the disease.
