Animal Husbandry Dept. Kargil begins FMD vaccination program

Kargil,March 26 (Scoop News)-Animal Husbandry Department Kargil today announced the commencement of Phase IV of the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Vaccination Program, which began on March 26 and will continue until June 10, 2024.

This vital initiative aims to safeguard the health and well-being of livestock, ensuring the prosperity of farming communities.

The program was flagged off by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kargil, Dr Gulzar Hussain in presence of all the doctors and block in-charges of Animal Husbandry Department Kargil.

Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Kargil emphasized the importance of proactive measures in preventing the spread of FMD and ensuring productivity of the livestock sector.

The Phase-IV FMD vaccination program represents a concerted effort by the Animal Husbandry Department to mitigate the risks posed by the highly contagious viral disease.

Through strategic planning and implementation, the department aims to achieve comprehensive coverage, reach each nook and corner of Kargil district and protect the valuable livestock assets.

During the inauguration cum briefing ceremony, Dr Gulzar Hussain highlighted the significance of community participation and urged the livestock owners to cooperate fully with the vaccination terms.

He emphasized the importance of timely vaccination, proper record-keeping, and adherence to biosecurity protocols to maximize the effectiveness of the program.

Meanwhile, the Animal Husbandry Department has extended gratitude to everyone including the veterinary staff, field workers and livestock owners for their support and cooperation in this critical endeavour. He stressed all the field workers to accomplish 100 percent vaccination within the stipulated time frame.
