JKAACL, Rahul Pandey condole demise of Dogri poetess Padma Sachdev

Jammu, August 04 (Scoop News)- Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) has condoled the demise of renowned Dogri poetess and novelist, Padma Sachdev. She was 81.
In this regard, a condolence meeting was held which was telephonically addressed by Secretary Academy, Rahul Pandey who termed the death of Padma Sachdev a big loss to Dogri literature in particular and Indian literature in general.
While expressing his deep condolences to the bereaved family, he prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul, and said Sachdev's absence will be long felt in Jammu and Kashmir.
Paying rich tributes to the late Padma Sachdev, Additional Secretary Academy, Dr A S Amn recalled her contribution to Dogri and Hindi literature.
Dr A S Amn who recalled his long personal association with Padma Sachdev said that she was the member of various high power committees of the Academy from time to time. She was a regular contributor to its Dogri and Hindi publications of Academy.
On the occasion, Dr Javaid Rahi, Chief Editor stated that being a writer par excellence, Padam Sachdev was awarded with 4th highest civilian award in 2001 Padam Shri, besides Sarswati Award, Sohad Award and Kabir Samman for poetry for the year 2007-08 given by Government of Madhya Pradesh.
Padam Sachdev wrote several poetry collections, including Meri Kavita Mere Geet (My Poems, My Songs), which won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1971, he added.
On the occasion, a two minute silence was also observed to pay homage to the departed soul.
