Zubair takes stock of ration distribution in Jammu division
Calls for effective implementation of AePDS Nominee Policy, tracking system for Supply Chain Management

Jammu, August 04 (Scoop News)- Over 43749 MTs of food-grains have been distributed by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) in Jammu division over the last month. This was given out at a meeting chaired by the Commissioner Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Zubair Ahmad to review the progress of ration distribution in Jammu division and status of reforms and interventions underway, here today.
The meeting was informed that 14361 MTs of food-grains were distributed among the beneficiaries under NFSA and 13047 MTs under PMGKAY during July, 2021. Additionally, 6688 MTs were distributed under Non-NFSA and 9653 MTs under JKFES schemes, during this period in Jammu Division.
Commending the field staff of the Department for taking Aadhar seeding of NFSA beneficiaries to above 98 percent, Zubair observed that the left-out vulnerable sections of the society should also be brought under NFSA cover at an earliest, in pursuance to the instructions already conveyed by the Administrative Department. He also asked the concerned to ensure implementation of the Nominee Policy for Aadhaar-enabled Public Distribution System (AePDS) that has been recently approved by the Administrative Council, for the benefit of old, sick, disabled and minor rationees.
The Commissioner Secretary stressed the need to make the system reliable, credible and transparent through reforms and people friendly interventions.
The meeting was informed that on the instructions of the Chief Secretary, the Department will operationalize tracking system of Supply Chain Management for the distribution cycle of August 2021. Various steps taken in this direction were reviewed and the concerned officers were asked to take up the remaining measures so that the tracking system is effectively implemented.
The Commissioner Secretary also visited the food store at Chatta and called for immediate preparation of estimates for up-gradation of the store so that the storage of the food-grains is secured in an appropriate manner.
The meeting was attended by Naseem Javaid Chowdary, Director Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Jammu, Romesh Singh, Director Finance, Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Mrs Shagun Sharma, Jt Director Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, other officers of Administrative Department and Directorate and all the Assistant Directors of Jammu Division.
