NC leaders pay glorious tribute to Sher-e-Kashmir on 116th birth anniversary



Jammu, December 05(Scoop News)- Leading National Conference leaders and workers in paying homage to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah on his 116th birth anniversary, Provincial President Mr Rattan Lal Gupta on Sunday said that maintaining the unity and single entity of Jammu and Kashmir will be a befitting tribute to the visionary leader, who fought all his life for wellbeing of the people and strengthening the bonds of communal amity.

Speaking at a homage-giving function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here, Mr Rattan Lal Gupta emphasized the crucial need of strengthening and sustaining the time tested unity, saying no society will progress if its foundations are laid on myopic considerations.

“Secular bonding is the spirit which has all along guided National Conference”, Mr Gupta said while recalling the cherished slogan of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh Itehad raised by Sheikh Sahib during most turbulent times.

Mr Gupta said the high point of Sheikh Sahib’s legacy has been inclusiveness, tranquility and harmony between people belonging to various faiths and regions. There is immense need for carrying forward this legacy to build progressive, secular and peaceful Jammu and Kashmir, which is facing numerous challenges posed by divisive elements, he added.

In his glowing tributes, former minister and senior leader Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra said that sustaining secular ethos is the best and befitting tribute to Sheikh Sahib, a towering among tallest of leaders of his times in the sub-continent.
Mr Sadhotra recalled the glorious role of Sheikh Sahib in strengthening amity and regional unity at a time when the entire sub-continent was in communal frenzy. “We are proud inheritors of this legacy”, he said, while recalling the landmark and pioneering Land Reforms Act, which empowered the farmers by making them masters of their own destiny overnight.
Mr Ajay Sadhotra said that progressive outlook and vision of Sher-e-Kashmir transformed Jammu and Kashmir as a vibrant state where the people of all the faiths enjoy equal opportunities of progress and development.
While paying homage to the legendary leader, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Provincial Secretary Jammu Province threw light on various facets of Sher-e-Kashmir’s life and recalled his sacrifice and contribution to ameliorate the lot of people, especially those belonging to weaker and down-trodden segments of society.

Yashu Vardan Singh, S.Gurnam Singh, Rakesh Singh Raka, Ravi Dogra, Rohit Bali, Farooq Mughal, Farman Ali, Anoop Sharma, Ch. Riaz Ahmed, Mohinder Kumar Rana, Raiz Malik, Sandesh Shan, Ch. Shabir,Tanveer Babzada Asha Mehra, Som Raj Taroch, Pinky Khasa, Karan Singh, Jatin Bhat, Parvez Mirza, Harminder Singh, Ashwani Charak, Ravi Mahajan, Veena, S. Tejinder Singh, Nitish Gowsami,Munzamil Teli, Parmod Khaphi, Rajeev Mahajan, Devi Dayal Jogi, Manzoor, Devi Ditta and others.

And the party workers paid floral tributes to Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and pledged to work for steering Jammu and Kashmir as peaceful, progressive and a politically stable part of the country,, which was the dream nurtured by the tallest of the tall leaders of the time all his life.

The senior leaders paid their respectful homage to the architect of Naya Jammu and Kashmir and recalled his contribution towards welfare and upliftment of the people.
