| Gandhi Global Family J&K honors volunteers of Robin Hood Army | |
Jammu, December 05(Scoop News)-Today on 5th Dec 2021 a felicitation function was organized at Amar Singh Club, Jammu by Gandhi Global Family (GGF), J&K. Shri Alok Kumar, IRS, Principal Secretary, Youth Services & Sports, Science & Technology and Estates Depts., Govt of J&K UT was the Chief Guest.
Gandhi Global Family (GGF) is affiliated with United Nations DGC as a non funding organization working in Jammu & Kashmir. GGF was originated from J&K during 1990 and then spread to other parts of the country and overseas. The organisation is working on the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nation and spreading peace & harmony among the masses. GGF has reached out to far-flung regions with grocery kits and AYUSH medicines during the COVID-19 pandemic period and has conducted more than 355 relief camps and supported 1.25 Lakh needy people in Jammu & Kashmir.
Shri Alok Kumar, IRS applauded the incredible work of both the organizations and appreciated the role of young volunteers in making a difference in the society especially during such difficult time of pandemic crises. He further said that together we can bring the much needed change in our society.
During the function, 50 volunteers and food partners of Robin Hood Army, Jammu were honored by dignitaries with certificates, tri-color aangvastar (scarf), and rare portrait of Mahatma Gandhi ji, for their outstanding contribution towards the nation in the field of “Serve the Hungry Citizens & Run Academy for the underprivileged children”. Robin Hood Army besides serving the needy people in hospitals, railway station, and slum areas, have done outstanding work by serving ration kits to far-flung areas of the Jammu region during the pandemic beginning from March 2020 onwards. Robin Hood Army is also holding an academy at Greater Kailash Jammu for underprivileged children of slum areas. Mr. Venus Sethi is heading the unit of Robin Hood Army at Jammu as its administrator.
Earlier, while welcoming the dignitaries and people from all walks of life, President Gandhi Global Family J&K Padmashri Dr. S P Varma informed the gathering about the achievements of Gandhi Global Family J&K COVID-19 Relief & Response Team & Robin Hood Army during pandemic in Jammu & Kashmir.
A medical camp of AYUSH medicines was also organized in the premises of the club where awareness of COVID 19 SPOs was made and AYUSH medicines were distributed among the people by Dr. Sanjay Koul under the supervision of District AYUSH Officer Dr Suresh Sharma. The event was also represented by the Directorate of Tourism where broachers of the Department were distributed among the participants on behalf of Director Tourism Jammu Shri Vivekananda Rai. Vote of thanks was presented by Mr Bashir Ahmed Sheikh, GGF J&K Secretary while the proceedings of the event was ably conducted by Mr Robin Robert Gill, GGF J&K Advisor.
The dignitaries present were Mr. Gazanfar Ali, JKAS, Director Youth Services & Sports J&K, Mr. M Y Kichloo, SSP, Civil Secretariat, Jammu, Army Veterans Lt Gen (R) Rakesh Sharma, Maj Gen (R) S K Sharma, Mr. Ajay Salaan, DCPO & Executive Secretary, Red Cross Jammu, Mr. Raman Gupta, Industrialist, Mrs. Ritika Mahajan, Committee Member, Amar Singh Club, Jammu and the entire cadre of Gandhi Global Family J&K relief & response team. The event was concluded by singing National Anthem.
