Team of officers visit Shakar Chiktan to assess drought-like situation
Kargil, May 21 (Scoop News)-The team of officers constituted by District Administration Kargil today visited all the villages of Shakar Chiktan to assess the drought-like situation.
The team comprised SDM Shakar Chiktan Muhammad Sharif, Tehsildar, AEE PHE & I&FC, AEO, Agriculture, HDO Horticulture, AVO, BVO Sheep and Animal & Panchayat Inspector Rural Department. The team visited all the drought-prone areas of the subdivision identified as per the last year's relief cases.
During the visit, the team observed that due to less snowfall, the availability of irrigational water depleted and worsened badly almost in all areas. Two villages are in full drought-prone besides 10-12 hamlets are apprehension badly affected due to less water discharge.
The land brought under cultivation is also limited. Sarak of Khangral village is being affected severely for the last many years due to negligible irrigational water continuously for many years.
The SDM directed I&FC and Rural Department to take immediate steps where urgent action is required to save the trees and cultivable lands.
The team will submit a comprehensive report to Deputy Commissioner, Kargil after visiting the identified drought-prone areas of villages of Tehsil Shargole on May 24.
