Cut in fuel prices; For Modi govt, people’s welfare always comes first: BJYM

Doda, May 22 (Scoop News)-Terming the record reductions in fuel prices for petro, diesel and LPG as ‘notable pro-people welfare measures’, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) State President Arun Prabhat on Sunday said the Modi government at the Centre has, time and again, proven that the welfare of the people is above everything and it refuse to let petty politics meddle with the lives of the general public.
“For Modi government, the people’s welfare always comes first. The government’s significant decision of slashing the fuel prices and increase in subsidy on the LPG gas by Rs 200 for Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries thereby reducing the overall price of the LPG cylinder will benefit all sections of the society. Our Hon’ble PM’s motto of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayaas is for all the citizens of India, including opposition parties and opposition-ruled states to march forward for the betterment of all especially, the poor, women and youth in focus,” said Arun Prabhat.
In a press statement,Arun Prabhat said the BJP always fights elections on the grounds of real issues and does not mingle with day-to-day governance issues, when in power.
“Despite global economic crisis and inflation, Union Minister of Finance, Smt Nirmala Sitharaman on the able guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced record reductions in fuel prices for petrol, diesel, and subsidy for LPG. This will reduce the price of petrol by ₹ 9.5 per liter and of Diesel by ₹ 7 per liter. It will cost the government exchequer around ₹ 1 lakh crore per year, notwithstanding the government was fully aware of the global economic scenario.
“Modi government has ensured that there are no shortages of essential goods in India and also the increased fuel prices do not impact the common citizens,” he said.
Arun Prabhat said this was the second time when there had been reduction in fuel prices. “Even in November 2021, the Government of India reduced fuel prices by Rs. 5 for petrol, Rs. 10 for diesel, and Rs. 102.5 for LPG cylinders and reduced its share in the central excise. The burden on the government treasury was balanced by the efficient management of the government in other sectors,” he said.
The BJYM state chief said it was important to understand the role of the state governments in controlling the prices of these fuels. “The last time when the Central Government reduced the prices, this move was replicated by various BJP and NDA ruled states and they followed a similar policy to relieve the public from higher fuel prices. This resulted in the reduction of fuel prices of petrol by Rs. 7 in states like Gujarat and Rs. 12 in UP,” he said.
Taking a strong dig at the opposition parties, Arun Prabhat said the Congress, TMC, DMK, Left Democratic front, YSR Congress, TRS and other opposition ruled states, didn’t reduce their share in the VAT on fuel prices. “Opposition states have no empathy for the common man. Their politics overtakes the interest of the public every time. The denial to reduce VAT on fuel prices was an act of escapism by the non-BJP governments. They prefer to play petty politics over really committing to public welfare” he said.
Mocking at the baseless criticism, the BJYM leader said the decision of the Finance Ministry has come at a time when it was most needed irrespective of the fact that there were no elections scheduled. He called upon all the opposition ruled states to reduce the state VAT in the fuel prices for the common man.
“If Gujarat, UP, MP, Haryana, and the other states can do it, then why can’t the states of West Bengal, Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala or Telangana manage,” he questioned. Prabhat also threatened to launch vigorous agitation if opposition States do not comply and reduce the VAT soon.
